Gokyo Lake Trek is a beautiful alternative route in the Everest region. The journey follows the Dudh Koshi Valley through Namche Bazaar before entering the peaceful Gokyo Valley. Trekkers explore the famous turquoise Gokyo Lakes and can climb Gokyo Ri for panoramic views of Everest and several other Himalayan peaks.
Fly to Lukla and trek through the Dudh Koshi valley toward Phakding.
Walk along the river, cross suspension bridges and climb through forests toward Namche Bazaar.
Explore Namche Bazaar and take a short hike to nearby viewpoints for acclimatization.
Follow the upper trail through rhododendron and pine forests with beautiful views of the Everest region.
Continue through the scenic Gokyo Valley, passing small settlements and mountain streams.
Walk beside the Ngozumpa Glacier and reach the beautiful Gokyo Lakes.
Early morning hike toward Gokyo Ri for panoramic views of Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse and Makalu. Return to Gokyo.
Descend through the Gokyo Valley and return toward Dole.
Continue downhill through forests and Sherpa settlements toward Namche.
Follow the Dudh Koshi valley back toward Lukla.
Keep a flexible day in Lukla as a safety buffer for weather or flight changes.
Fly back to Kathmandu and complete the Gokyo Lake Trek.
